Daisy Hill began about 8 years ago when my daughter Rebecca was given the most adorable cock-a-poo puppy you've ever seen. She was the image of Lady from Lady and the tramp and so of course Lady she became. At the time we were raising Alaskan Malamutes, and had been for about 10 years.  As much as we loved our mals, we knew with the kids and our busier schedules we just weren't giving them the time and attention that every dog deserves. We placed all of our Mals out into homes, and resigned ourselves to being a one dog family.  Then our son decided that he wanted his own dog, and we welcomed Tonka, a cock-a-tzu ( no I didn't sneeze!) into our home.  Tonka wormed his way into our hearts, and , and eventually he and Lady got together and produced the sweetest puppies.  We sold them easily, and the kids split the money and once again we were back in the puppy business!

We have gradually over the years filled our empty kennels, and branched out to raising cockapoo's, cockatzu's and just last year had our first litter of Whoodles!  All of our dogs are loved and played with daily.  We built a new Kennel onto the house and our dogs all come into the living room at night and spend time with us inside.  It's amazing to see 14 dogs sprawled all over the furniture while the kids sit on the floor to watch tv.

We don't sell our older dogs, although we are often asked if we would let some of them go.  I believe that dogs are a lifetime commitment, and when our dogs are past breeding age, they are entitled to live out there lives where they are loved and where they are part of a family.  Not all of our dogs are used for breeding.  Of the twelve dogs we have at the moment, only 7 are actively breeding, the rest are here for various reasons, some because they can't be trained, some because they  have health issues that thier previous owner couldn't deal  with and some just because they are cute darn it!

Our family is also a foster family for kids as well.  The many animals that we raise and care for go a long way in helping us reach some of the kids that come our way.  Animals, and especially dogs, love unconditionaly, and for some of our kids, this is the first time they've had that experience.  Even the toughest ones are defenseless against taking a nap on the couch and waking up with four or five dogs snuggled in around you.  The dogs don't give you a choice, they love you no matter what!

Aside from dogs, we also have horses, a donkey, birds, fish, cats, rats, lizards and our latest aquisition is a tree frog called Herbie.  It's general chaos around our house and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We love our dogs, and we come to love our puppies in the short time that we have them.  The hardest part about raising and selling puppies is having to tell people no, that they can't have one of our puppies.  We want to make sure that every member of the family wants our dogs, and that it is a loving home that it's going to.  If you are considering one of our puppies please take some time to be sure that everyone is in agreement.  It's not fair to ask one family member to live with a dog they don't want, and it's not fair to our pups to live in a home where it is resented.  Our dogs come with a 1 year health guarantee, but they come with a lifetime return guarantee.  If at any time in your dogs life time, for whatever reason,  you need to return him, we will ALWAYS take our dogs back and find them new homes.

I hope you find the puppy you are looking for,

Sue

Feb 15th 2006.  The family and I are devastated to inform you that our beloved Tonka dog, pictured above and father to so many of our wonderful puppies died suddenly and unexpectedly.  We found Tonka nearly lifeless at 4:30  in the morning, and rushed him to the emergency vet.  Despite their  best efforts and our prayers, Tonka slipped from our grasp at 8:15 that morning.  We will never be certain about what it was that took him from us, the vets feel that he came into contact with some sort of mold that attacked his intestines.  After careful thought, we decided that we needed to bring Tonka home, and made the decision to have him cremated.  I have always felt that when  a pet died, it was best to bury them and try to  move on.  Tonka was such a special dog and so loved by everyone that knew him, that I just couldn't bear the thought of not having him near me.   We are blessed to have three of his daughters with us and thankful to have such a living reminder of such a wonderful dog.  Those of you who have lost a pet, will understand the pain that our family is going though.   I am thankful that Tonka lived with us his whole life, and that he never knew a day where he wasn't loved.  To Tonka I say thank you for having been there, for sleeping on my bed at night, riding in my car when I went out, and always always being beside me.  For being the "monster dog"that kept the monsters at bay in Daniels closet, and for listening to Rebecca when she was having a bad day.   For being the welcoming committee when we had new kids come into our lives, and for looking at me with that special love that told me things were going to be ok, and that you understood.  I miss you Tonka dog, and I always will...
